I believe that every person who is aware of the serious problems afflicting our society and our planet has a duty to make their knowledge and experience (whatever it may be) available to contribute to the solution. The Breathing City Association was born out of my desire and need for action. My work has to do with Water (I deal with irrigation systems and water management), and has often dealt with the Soil (creation of substrates for pot plants and rooftop gardens) and with the Sun (design and installation of photovoltaic systems). I like and share a holistic view of things, which is why I have promoted and funded the development of a prototype and subsequent study on the possible integration and resulting benefits of the techniques learnt during my various professional experiences (photovoltaic system/rooftop garden/rainwater harvesting systems).

Christoph is a real estate investor. Thanks to his current profession and past experience, he has developed a very exclusive and extremely useful overview of how a building fits into its natural surroundings. In Germany, he fulfilled the important role of Landschaftsbauer (landscape builder), during which time he designed and developed numerous rooftop gardens on private, public and industrial buildings. Thanks to his olistic vision, he has developed interesting integration systems such as rainwater filtration and subsequent harvesting directly on a green roof.

Klaus is an expert entrepreneur in green roof’s design and development. His experience began very early on with the production of ornamental plants and continued with the founding and ongoing development of Climagruen GmbH, a company that designs and develops functional greenery. Klaus firmly believes in the important role of green roofs and functional greenery as an environmental mitigation tool against urban warming. Together with his staff, he constantly research on making the benefits of green roofs even more effective.

Federico is a journalist, innovator, marketing, communication and fundraising expert. A University of Pisa graduate in Business Administration, he has always been involved in innovation, becoming one of the protagonists of Italian social innovation when, in 2013, he created the worldwide phenomenon of Social Streets, landing on the front pages of the New York Times and the Harvard Business Review. He has always been passionate about social issues. As a journalist, he began writing for Amnesty International, later collaborating with important publications such as Grazia, Corriere delle Sera and Il Fatto Quotidiano. He gained experience in the marketing sector by helping start-ups to penetrate international markets and is also involved in public relations. His company, Ubuntusolutions, supports numerous organisations seeking to communicate their identity, storytelling and create a brand reputation able to increase their client base. Recently, he has also been involved in charity and fundraising events, becoming the CFO of the NGO Women of Vision in South Africa, helping to devleop an international network.

Cesare, CEO and founder of Frassinago Gardens and Landscapes, has a great experience as landscaper.
He is an expert in building gardens and has become a leading landscaper in Italy. Cesare’s experience began with his father’s company, continued with the companies he founded (Greenwell, Blooms, Landscape), and fo forward today with Frassinago and his design studio.
