What we do and why

WHAT?

Identify buildings suitable for the development of total or partial green wall or green roof projects.

Raise funds for the development of green roofs, green walls and rainwater harvesting and management systems.

WHY?

Raise awareness on Urban Heat Island Effect and Urban Stormwater, as well as the benefits of Green Roofs and Walls to help solve the problem.

Create “environmental awareness centres” in the cities, where green roofs and wall techniques can be observed.
Stimulate the development of “green buildings” in town. Organise meetings and events to talk about the natural cycles regulating our Planet and raise awareness about its limits and, therefore, create a culture of respect.

Stimulate and increase knowledge of the environmental, economic and social benefits of plants in complex systems such as our cities.

Create a “Green Bridge” between our schools and leading northern European companies in the green roof and vertical garden industry. Developing a project on a school enhances its value by raising awareness, stimulating interest and helping to open the minds of youths in a sector that is rapidly expanding and still underdeveloped in Italy.

CHANGE OUR CITIES
, transforming their structures into “living” buildings

All the available surfaces of a building can be vegetated, taking advantage of existing and recognised technologies to produce oxygen, restore the soil’s stolen permeability, reduce latent heat and cool the environment, capture fine dust, manage urban stormwater, harvest rainwater, reduce the environmental impact, create microfauna and generate a feeling of well-being and relaxation thanks to the ancestral ties between man and plants.

SCHOOLS

Schools that join the project become genuine “Centres of environmental knowledge” and serve as a model where integrated roof and wall greening technologies can be observed and studied, with the primary aim of encouraging their development on other existing buildings. They also become a means of disseminating knowledge regarding the natural cycles that regulate our Planet, raising awareness about its limits and, therefore, creating a culture of respect.

Create a “green bridge” between our schools and northern Europe, which has always been at the forefront of green roof and wall systems, promoting incentive policies already adopted by local administrations around the world.
The association seeks to organise visits to the best manufacturers and developers of green roofs and walls.
The aim is create knowledge, open student’s minds and stimulate interest in an industry that is rapidly expanding and still underdeveloped in Italy.
